On the island, towers on Reem, the Corniche and Al Reem’s newer developments mix concrete structure with gypsum partition between rooms, and those partitions hold almost nothing on a plain plug; they need a spring toggle or a fixing landed on the metal stud behind the board. The third surface is the one that catches people out: marble, granite and large-format porcelain, common in capital hallways and bathrooms.
