Begin about three weeks out, and start with the buildings rather than the boxes. Both landlords will want an access request naming your mover, a copy of the trade licence and a valid third-party insurance certificate, and most commercial towers only release the goods lift outside trading hours — which in practice means a Friday night or a weekend. Free-zone premises in DMCC, DIFC and Dubai Internet City often need a separate NOC or fit-out approval on top, and those take days rather than hours. While that runs, do the internal work: agree a cut-off time after which nobody adds to their desk, number the new floor plan, decide what is genuinely being taken and what should be sold or disposed of, and let your IT team set the order for shutting servers down and bringing them back. Finally, read the dilapidation clause in your outgoing lease before the last crate leaves, because restoring a space to its original condition is a cost most companies discover far too late.
The districts behave differently. DIFC and Downtown towers are the strictest on approved contractors and out-of-hours access. JLT and Business Bay are workable but share loading bays with retail and residential traffic, so slots matter. Dubai Internet City, Media City and Dubai Silicon Oasis add free-zone paperwork.
