Ajman gives you two very different jobs depending on the age of the building. The established blocks through Al Nuaimiya, Al Rashidiya and around the Corniche are solid block behind a hard render — strong walls, but the render alone can absorb most of a short plug, which is why cheap fixings spin loose and people wrongly blame the wall. Use a longer anchor and those walls will carry almost anything. The newer towers at Emirates City, Ajman One and along the newer Corniche developments follow modern construction instead, with gypsum partition between rooms that holds practically nothing on a plain plug and needs a spring toggle or a fixing on the stud. Villas in Al Rawda and Al Mowaihat are back to solid blockwork. Then there is the coast: sea air and heavy summer humidity are why adhesive hooks fail here more often than almost anywhere in the UAE, and they tend to fail at night when nobody is watching.
Two things worth sorting before booking anyone in Ajman. First, access: a great many buildings here are walk-ups, or have a lift too small for an oversized mirror, so tell us the floor and what fits in the lift and we will send the right crew rather than discovering the problem on your landing. Second, making good: most tenancy agreements leave filling and repainting holes to the tenant at the end of the lease, so it is worth deciding the layout once and drilling once. And resist adhesive strips as a workaround — in this climate they are a temporary arrangement at best.
